Radioulnar Instability and Ulnar Stump Stabilization in Distal Radio Ulnar Joint Arthritis: A Cadaver Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Salvage procedures for distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) arthritis, like the Darrach or Sauvé-Kapandji (S-K) procedures, often result in extensor tendon ruptures at ulnar stump. Radioulnar instability is considered underlying cause and stump stabilization techniques are employed. This study investigated instability, irritation, effectiveness of following salvage procedures. Methods: Six upper limbs from three cadavers were used. Forearm rotation was measured using magnetic position sensors to assess radial movement. The procedure performed on two limbs, comparing motion ranges different osteotomy positions. risk rupture assessed with applied weight. S-K four evaluating movement distance underweight. Results: Proximal positions increased range. Extensor irritation occurred when load volar sides, particularly a pronated forearm. Stump did not significantly contribute stabilization. Conclusions: DRUJ led potential complications. Load application especially forearm, rupture. showed limited utility stabilizing reducing These findings can inform strategies minimizing complications

Distal radioulnar joint arthroscopy and the volar ulnar portal.
Pain on the ulnar side of the wrist remains poorly understood. As attention has shifted toward the myriad causes of ulnar-sided wrist pain, the utility of viewing the wrist from a volar ulnar (VU) perspective has emerged. Lunotriquetral ligament tears have been implicated in the pathogenesis of volar intercalated segmental instabilities. They often originate in the palmar subregion, which is mo...
متن کاملDistal Radioulnar Joint Instability
Distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instability is a common clinical condition but a frequently missed diagnosis. Both surgical and nonsurgical treatments are possible for chronic cases of DRUJ instability. Nonsurgical treatment can be considered as the primary therapy in less active patients, while surgery should be considered to recover bone and ligament injuries if nonsurgical treatment fails to ...
متن کاملA new injury of the distal radio-ulnar joint.
A case of locked hypersupination of the distal radio-ulnar joint is described in which the ulnar displacement was purely rotational rather than volar. The mechanism of injury is discussed in the light of cadaveric dissections which reproduced the injury.
متن کاملImaging Findings of the Distal Radio-Ulnar Joint in Trauma
Introduction Traumatic lesions of the distal radio-ulnar joint (DRUJ) occur frequently in conjunction with fractures of the distal radius and are a common cause of pain and limited range of motion after distal radial fractures. However they are often ignored or underappreciated. Therefore this joint should be evaluated independently and thoroughly. The aim of this pictorial review is to present...
متن کاملThe distal radio-ulnar joint in Colles' fractures.
The effect of involvement of the distal radio-ulnar joint on subsequent function was studied in 170 patients with Colles' fractures, reviewed for one year after cast removal. Patients with involvement of this joint had significantly weaker grips and a significantly greater incidence of pain and tenderness over the joint at all stages of follow-up. They also had a poorer range of supination at s...
